We’re wrapping up an amazing 6-week cycling programme with the brilliant Tomas and Ally — and what a ride it’s been! ๐
A massive thank you to both of them for bringing such energy, encouragement, and fun to every session. The children have gained fantastic cycling skills, built confidence, and most importantly, had a brilliant time doing it! ๐ช๐ฒ๐
From balance and control to road awareness and safety, the opportunities and experiences offered were second to none. It’s been a joy to watch the progress and smiles grow each week! ๐
Here’s to more pedals, progress, and positivity in the future! ๐ฅณ๐ดโ๏ธ
We’re officially two weeks in and our students are absolutely smashing it in the Skipping Around Europe Challenge in the amazing weather! ๐๐ช
From Dublin to Prague and Berlin to Budapest, our classes have been racking up their skips and making fantastic progress across the continent. ๐บ๏ธ๐ฅ It’s been incredible to see the energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork from all classes — skipping ropes flying, smiles beaming, and legs moving non-stop! ๐
A huge well done to all the students (and staff!) who’ve taken part so far — your effort and commitment are truly inspiring. Let’s keep up the great work and see just how far we can travel in the next few weeks! ๐๐
Keep skipping, keep smiling, and keep moving!
Dia daoibh (Dee-ya yee uv)
We had a lovely week celebrating the Irish language and culture .The Irish language is certainly alive and well here in Our Lady of Lourdes ns.
We had some lovely performances at assembly and you can see them below .6th class expertly forecasted the weather for us, 1st class showed their fierceness by doing the Haka Gaelach, 2nd class made us very feel patriotic by singing "Irelands call", 3,Rd gave very dramatic performances of some lovely poems about a leprechaun and a pencil,4th class sang a song about emigration, Irish people leaving Ireland across the waves (Trasna na dtonnta), 5th class performed the Rathlin Bog and also a round of An Dreolin. The infants did brilliant poems about a lovely yellow teddy and if your happy and you know it as Gaeilge.
Some children also impressed us by performing a traditional Irish dance, Na Baliigh Luimnigh
Lá Féile Padraig daoibh.
What an incredible week of football for our school! Both the boys' and girls' teams competed in their blitz tournaments, showing amazing teamwork, determination, and skill.
We are so proud to share that both teams made it through the group stages and into the finals, playing their hearts out and doing absolutely fantastic! ๐
Their hard work, sportsmanship, and team spirit were on full display, and every player should feel really proud of how well they did. They represented the school brilliantly and gave it their all right to the very end.
And this is just the beginning — more competitions are coming up in a few weeks, and we can't wait to see these amazing teams back in action!
Well done, everyone! ๐โฝ
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new school walkway, a space designed to promote health, well-being, and an appreciation for staying active.
To kick things off, our amazing 6th class students took the lead by guiding each class around the walkway. They shared fun and inspiring facts about marathons — from the history of the race to the dedication it takes to complete one. Their enthusiasm and knowledge helped everyone understand the importance of setting goals and enjoying physical activity.
This walkway will be a wonderful addition to our school, encouraging students to move, chat, and learn in a refreshing outdoor environment. A huge thank you to 6th class for their leadership and to everyone who made this project possible.
Let’s get walking!
Seachtain na Gaeilge takes place next week.
We will celebrate our Irish culture by speaking our native language, explore Irish music and songs. Some classes will practice Irish dancing and we will have lots of craic agus Spraoi on Lá Glas. We will have our annual ceolchoirm on Friday where the children will all perform a song or poem they have learned.
Parents are welcome to come to the junior assembly on Friday where we will have some space set out for you. We can't do at senior assembly unfortunately but videos of performances will be up online.
There is a page on this website for Gaeilge and there are video and audio clips of some basic Irish phrases that you could learn and show your child that you can learn Gaeilge too โ๏ธ๐ฎ๐ช
Well done everyone ๐
It's about the aftermath of Humpty Dumpty falling from the Wall. He overcomes his fears and overcomes obstacles which is a great theme to explore with all ages. The book has wonderful illustrations which we will explore and we are looking forward to some great discussions with the children.
We had a lovely assembly on Friday celebrating the Art of storytelling. Our classes were learning myth/legends from Irish,Greek and Norse mythology. The children showed us the different ways to tell a story and it was great to see such variety in the performances.
We have a storyteller,Aideen McBride, visiting Tuesday, some classes are visiting the library, 6th will read with infant classes, we will have a literacy quiz and also an assembly on Friday where children will do some storytelling of their own .
We hope everyone will enjoy exploring myths and legends and we look forward to hearing and seeing their stories come to life at Assembly.
