Our Lady of Lourdes N.S. is a mainstream Catholic primary school situated in the heart of Inchicore, Dublin 8.
We offer places to girls and boys from Junior Infants to 6th class. We are a multicultural school and we welcome children from all denominations and ethnic backgrounds. We are also opening the first of 2 base classes for children that are on the Autism spectrum in September which will cater for 6 children.
We promote self-worth, love of learning, personal responsibility and the belief that we can make our world a better place.
Our Lady of Lourdes N.S. is a warm and caring school, for children and parents. We do all in our power to ensure each child’s needs are met. We celebrate their uniqueness and we seek develop their potential to the full.
Here in Our Lady of Lourdes N.S. we have bright, spacious well equipped classes with three outdoor areas and a playing field for children to play in. We also have a well stocked library, gymnasium and computer room.
We follow the National Curriculum and provide a wide range of subjects to our pupils. These include a range of subjects such as science, history, geography and the arts.
Our primary focus in literacy and numeracy. Our teachers have undertaken extensive training in a range of programmes in these areas to help children succeed in these areas.
We have been part of ‘Creativity in the Classroom’ art project since 1997. An artist works with a range of classes each year to develop the creative ability and skills of each child.
The children in our school are given the opportunity to be involved in a variety of sports. Activities include soccer (F.A.I./St. Patricks’s Athletic), Gaelic football (Liffey Gaels G.A.A.), Cross country, Athletics, Swimming and Basketball.
We are also involved in the Active Schools Program.We achieved our first Active Schools Flag a few years ago.
We are part of the Digital Schools initiative and the children in our school are learning a wide range of skills and are using computers and equipment such as digital cameras, camcorders and other equipment on a regular basis. Each classroom is equipped with either an interactive whiteboard or a data projector.
Our school also has links to Hesed House. Monica from Hesed House visits our school weekly to provide support to some children and parents.
After School Activities
We provide a variety of after school clubs including homework clubs. These currently basketball, football, drama, zumba, board games and Irish dancing.
Our Lady of Lourdes NS is part of St. Michaels parish. We use St. Michaels church for communion, confirmation and some services throughout the year. Fr. Louis visits our school on a regular basis as he helps 2nd and 6th class prepare for their sacraments.
