5th class science experiments!

Over the past two weeks our class has been getting involved in science investigations with the help from members of the AMBER research team in Trinity college. For our first week we were testing to see which materials were conductive and which were not. We were asked to construct a circuit initially and then to test various materials to see if they were conductive. We discovered that the led (graphite) in our pencils were conductive.
In our next session we were looking at the graphite we find in our pencils. We learnt that if you break down the graphite you get graphene. We were asked to create our own examples of graphite using tooth pics and marshmallows.
