Just popping up some ideas for over the Easter. I hope you all take some time for yourselves and stay safe.

Draw an egg shape on paper and have the kids design their own Easter egg. If you have art materials at home they could use crepe paper to decorate.

Remember to do your picture walk, then read your book. Set a timer and keep reading until it goes off.

<strong>Reading response: </strong>

Draw a picture and write about your favourite part. “My favourite part was when…”

Write about a connection you have to the story “This reminds me of when…”

Retell the story “This story is about…”

Make a comic strip of your favourite part of the book.

Design a new book cover for the book. Be creative!

Adjective showdown: Get a blank piece of paper and write down as many describing words as you can, have a competition with someone at home. Set a timer, choose a person/place/thing to describe. Whoever writes the most adjectives before the timer goes off, wins!

<em>Persuasive</em>: Write a letter on why:
<li>Children should be allowed to eat whatever they want.</li>
<li>Children should have to wear school uniforms.</li>
<li>Every house should have a pet. &nbsp;<strong>Explain your reasons.</strong></li>
<em>Poetry:</em> &nbsp;Write an acrostic poem using your name, favourite food/toy, spring, school.

<em>Procedural: </em>
<li>Write the steps to make your favourite dinner. What ingredients/equipment do you need?</li>
<li>Write the steps to play your favourite games. What do you need?</li>
<em>Recount:</em> Write a recount about your birthday. What did you do? Where did you go? Who was there?

<em>Report</em>: Write a report on your favourite animal. What does it look like? Feel like? What does it eat? What does it do? Draw a diagram and label it.

<strong>Write a letter to your teacher</strong>! Let them know how you’re getting on, what do you miss about school?


Count to 100, forwards and backwards. Count in 2’s, 5’s, 10’s.

Practice writing your numbers.

Walk on the spot/ jog on the spot

Make up a dance routine to your favourite song. (You could even perform it for your family when you’re finished!)
