School garden http://ourladyoflourdesns.ie/2020/06/14/4762/ Sun, 14 Jun 2020 20:56:03 +0000 http://ourladyoflourdesns.ie/?p=4762 Continue Reading]]> Ms Merrys garden is blooming at the moment as she is minding some of our Garden Clubs plants. At this time of the year we would be so busy harvesting our peas beans, strawberries, blueberries carrots, salad leaves, courgette etc but unfortunately we have had to let some of those plants go and I minded what I could from home. We would normally be cooking and eating everything we grow and watching to see have we increased the bees and butterflies around our school environment. I really can’t wait to get back into our school garden and I am praying for a miracle with the potatoes 🀞🀞

Despite all the restrictions we in OLOL are determined to give our Class of 2020 the best send off possible as they leave us to go to secondary school.  On the 30th of June, their official last day of primary school we will send out a video for the class with pictures from their journey in OLOL. To do this we need to gatehr photos of them. So calling all children and parents in the class of 2020 can you send Ms Merry your photos by email at s.merry@ourladyoflourdens.ie or text Ms. Hanly with a picture.

But we want to send them off in person so we have planned  a graduation ceremony in the school for the 21st of August. This is a provisional date and dependent on government guidelines.

4th Class STEM http://ourladyoflourdesns.ie/2020/06/10/4th-class-stem/ Wed, 10 Jun 2020 11:43:12 +0000 http://ourladyoflourdesns.ie/?p=4732 Continue Reading]]> Last week 4th class enjoyed some great STEM activities. We completed some design and make activities, wrote summaries, and looked into some jobs that involve STEM. We all really enjoyed our STEM days!

I was so impressed with the children’s design and make activities! Here are a few of them below πŸ™‚

Here is an animal enclosure made by Riley

Lewis made a boat that floats. He also made his name in 3D using Jenga blocks

Alice used marshmallows to make her name 3D!

Hussein used Lego to make his name 3D!

Rares made a paper airplane and he also wrote a procedure to go along with it! He also made a house for a robot.

Arianne completed some work examining the technology in her kitchen. She examined her toaster! Here is a labeled diagram.

These are just a small selection of the work completed by the children during our STEM days. Well done 4thΒ  class!

Ms Clapperton
