We are running OLOLYMPICS again this year. This is a term of extra active sessions instead of sports day . It was very successful for the last two years. dawe had a lovely ceremony on Friday morning celebrating Mary and the month of May. We said some prayers and readings and sang a beautiful hymn. We invited some of the Mercy nuns who live locally and they thought that it was a lovely ceremony.
Junior Infants were excited to see the Sam Maguire in their classes recently. The cup was as big as some of the children and we might have some future Dublin players in our classes. They love their PE lessons and loved when Dean coached them in Gaelic football too.
Junior Infants made chocolate nests for Easter and for some the temptation to eat was too big. Earlier in the year they loved making, decorating and eating their Gingerbread Men.
Our class had a Lego workshop where we all became engineers. We started by looking at different skyscrapers around the world. In groups we designed our own skyscrapers. We drew our plans and worked in groups to plan the design for our skyscrapers. We talked about how tall skyscrapers are and how many windows they have. We have been very busy in our garden club. As part of the Incredible Edibles programme we are growing carrots, lettuce, chives, spinach, turnip, potatoes and strawberries. Mrs. Merry gave us some other seeds to grow as well like mangetout, broccoli, broad beans, peas, and “surprise seeds(we don’t know what it is).
