Our running club has been very poplular this year and the children are all really enjoying getting out running the canal at lunch time and getting fit and healthy too. It was a very busy week in Room 2. The children were lucky enough to be invited to Inchicore college to see their Panto on Tuesday. Santa took some time out of his busy schedule on Monday to come and visit the Junior Infants in OLOL! The children were all delighted to see him and they sang some Christmas songs too! Santa told the children that they must continue working really hard and behave well and he will be calling to their homes on Christmas Eve!
Our Parents Council outdid themselves this year with the Christmas Raffle. It has been the best selection of prizes we have had in.a long time. There were so many fabulous prizes like food hampers,toy hampers, a tablet, €100 dunnes voucher, Tesco.voucher, selection boxes, watches etc.
We had a beautiful carol service in the church today. The children sang so beautifully.
Ms. Merrys class have been working away at something very exciting. Every day at 12 o’ clock they ‘become’ santa’s elves during Aistear time . They put on their hats and start building, checking lists and wrapping presents. It is great fun.
The parents council are having our annual raffle next Thursday.. This is always very exciting and there are some fantastic hampers to be won. Tickets can be bought in the office €2 for one line and 3 lines for €5.
As part of the literacy week activities some classes got to read together. Ms O’ Donnell’s 6th class read books to Ms Cusack’s senior infants in the school library. The older boys and girls enjoyed the experience and were very impressed with how attentive the younger learner were.
We got a visit today from RTE News who wanted to ask us all about the work we do with reading and literacy. Due to our involvement with the Write to Read project we have really improved our attitudes to reading and writing. Our annual Toy Sale was a big success today. Parents and children from around the school donated toys in good condition that they don’t like to play with anymore and other children got to buy them at a very good price. 6th class acted as shopkeepers. There were fantastic bargains to be had and the children made the most of it. It certainly started the Continue Reading
