The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch
We have been learning lots about Lighthouses and the Seaside! Take a look at our art work inspired by the story “The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch” by David and Ronda Armitage.
We have also been investigating which items in our class would float or sink. In groups, we tested six items which included a pencil, a lollipop stick, an apple and an orange. The most interesting discovery that we made was that the orange floated with its skin on and when we peeled the orange it sank!
April Showers Bring May Flowers!
We were very lucky to have Ms. Power, a former pupil in teaching us for her final school placement. We learned all about deserts and camels.
Here are some interesting facts we learned about Camels;
- Camels have three sets of eyelids and two rows of eyelashes to keep the sand out of their eyes.
- Camels can go without water for a very long time as they live in the desert but a thirsty camel can drink up to 135 litres of water in one sitting!
Welcome Back Everyone!
We have had a very busy first week back.
We have been learning lots about Spring.
We painted some Spring Chicks and Flowers on Monday and on Tuesday we planted our own seeds.
We are really excited to watch the seeds sprout and grow!
We also learned all about Irish Wildflowers, we looked around the school to see if we could spot any.
We became Botanists for the day. We found daffodils, primroses, dandelions and daisies.
Happy New Year!
